My name is Ben of BC Computer Services. I have worked in the computer repair and IT services sector professionally for 11 years in both a self-employed and corporate IT staff capacity. Many of these services can usually be resolved without the need to re-install your operating system. Why is this important? Well re-installation of Windows will wipe many of your settings and customisations that you will be accustomed to working with, such as Desktop layout, settings in Microsoft Office, which programs you have to open which files etc. Wiping the computer and starting again is often done as an “easy fix” approach to removing viruses and fixing windows errors and the truth is, in the 90 to 120 minutes it takes to backup your files, re-install windows and re-install your programs and files your computer can be cleaned, repaired, secured and overhauled to the point it will run like new, without the need for you to lose anything of value!
